WHERE TO SEE PREMIER LEAGUE GOALS AND HIGHLIGHTS

AD: FIRE STICK DEALS HERE

PREMIER League highlights will be available on the BBC iPlayer from 8pm on Saturday and Sunday nights for the first time when the new season kicks-off.

The BBC’s highlights coverage has previously been limited to Match of the Day, but as part of their new four-year deal to show highlights they will be able to show them earlier in the evening. As well as IPlayer, they’ll also be available on the BBC Sport app and BBC Sport online pages. A similar arrangement will be in place for midweek games with highlights landing on BBC platforms about half-an-hour after the final whistle.

As part of its agreement with the Premier League, Sky Sports has been making highlights available on its website, app and YouTube channel from 5.15pm on a Saturday and that will continue into the new season.

Sky will also have a weekly Game of the Day (one of Saturday’s 3pm games shown in full) at 8.30pm each Saturday night as well as Match Choice 30-minute game edits at 10pm on its linear channels and on-demand.

Match of the Day returns with a major revamp and a rota of new presenters following Gary Lineker’s departure.

Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gaby Logan will present on a rotation basis across the Saturday and Sunday night programmes, any midweeks and the Champions League version of Match of the Day.

Cates and Chapman will also be part of Sky Sports’ Premier League live match presenters roster.

PREMIER LEAGUE TV GAMES ANNOUNCED SO FAR SEE HERE

THE new season sees the start of a new multi-billion pound Premier League TV rights deal with 100 extra games a year being shown by Sky alone.

Under the four-year agreement, Sky will show at least 215 matches a season including for the first time all games rescheduled to 2pm on a Sunday due to clubs’ European commitments. Sky say when there are four or more Sunday 2pm kick-offs they’ll offer a new MultiView programme to follow all matches in one places.

It means 80 per cent of the live televised games will be on Sky, the other 20 per cent on TNT. Sky’s previous deal allowed them to show 128 matches live so the new season’s changes are significant.

The new contract, which starts in August, gives Sky all first-pick matches and means they retain their Friday and Monday night 8pm games, Saturday 5.30pm and the big Super Sunday 4.30pm and 2pm matches.

In addition to the rescheduled Sunday 2pm matches, they’ve added three midweek rounds, some Boxing Day games.

And for the first time all TEN final day games will be shown live on Sky Sports at the same time.

TNT Sports has retained its Saturday 12.30pm games and will show a total of 52 matches a season including some midweek rounds.

Some fans had been concerned it will mean fixtures moved to accommodate TV games, but in reality while there will be some extra Monday and Friday TV games, the majority of the extra games being televised are either midweek, bank holiday or the games displaced to Sunday due to European commitments.

Match of the Day is secure as the home of FREE-TO-AIR highlights with the BBC retaining that package as well as adding extra digital rights for its online platforms. This will mean mini-highlights packages will be available from 8pm on a Saturday night on BBC iPlayer for the first time – SEE MORE

The record-breaking deal is worth £6.7billion and has been described by the Premier League as the “largest sports media rights deal ever concluded in the UK”.

Amazon Prime Video – which has been showing two entire fixture rounds of 20 games a season – has lost rights to all its games.

As well as more live games this season, the Premier League has agreed to some other changes including substitutes being interviewed by Sky and TNT after they’ve come off, camera operators allowed to enter the field of play after goals have been scored to film celebrations close-up and dressing room cameras.

PREMIER LEAGUE TV RIGHTS GO UP FOR GRABS

The race for the next set of Premier League TV rights is underway with more live games than ever before being made available.

Broadcasters have been invited to bid for up to 270 matches per season, the most ever since the formation of the league.

They’ve been split into five separate packages of up to 65 games each with ALL the games moved back to a Sunday 2pm kick-off due to teams’ involvement in Europe to be broadcast live for the first time. Currently just one 2pm and 4.30pm match selected by the broadcasters can be screened on Sunday as part of the present deal.

It means up to seven games out of the ten on some weekends after European midweeks could be broadcast live.

A source at one broadcaster told Footie On TV: “In reality no extra games will be moved for TV purposes. The extra games being shown at 2pm on Sunday have only moved because teams have played in Europe on the midweek before, the only difference is they will now be shown live on TV. It was becoming increasingly infuriating for fans that these matches weren’t being shown on TV so it’s a sensible move by the Premier League.”

The other slots for TV games will remain the same with Saturday 12.30pm and 5.30pm kick-offs, Sundays 2pm and 4.30pm and Monday and Fridays 8pm. It’s thought all midweek and bank holiday matches will also be all screened live.

The Times also reports that every game on the final day of the season will be made available for broadcast.

The new contract will run for the four seasons from the 2025-26 campaign to 2028/29. Sky, TNT and Amazon hold the rights to live games until then.

Free-to-air highlights are also being auctioned off. Those rights are currently held by the BBC and shown through Match of the Day. Other “near-live” rights are also available, similar to the 5.15pm mini-highlights packages Sky currently hold and show via its app and YouTube channel along with its Game of the Day and Match Choice offerings on a Saturday night.

Sky and TNT will bid again for live rights. Amazon, which has already secured some Champions League games from next season, and sports streaming service DAZN are likely to bid for some packages too. The high cost of the rights could put them out of reach of free-to-air broadcasters BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, but they could all battle it out for the highlights package.

IS MAN UNITED V LEEDS ON TV LIVE ANYWHERE?

MANCHESTER United v Leeds is coming up at Old Trafford, but it won’t be shown live on UK TV.

That’s because broadcasters are only allowed to pick a set number of games from each fixture round. This fixture was originally scheduled for September, but was postponed following the Queen’s death.

Broadcasters hadn’t originally chosen it for that weekend, so in keeping with the terms of their Premier League contract they are not able to show the rearranged match tonight.

However, 30-minutes of highlights will be available on Sky Sports Premier League at 10.30pm. Free-to-view shorter highlights will also be available on Sky Sports’ YouTube channel and app.

The teams meet again at Leeds on Sunday and that match is live on Sky.
