WHEN ARE THE FA CUP FIRST ROUND TV GAMES ANNOUNCED?

When is the FA Cup first round?

The first round centres around Saturday, November 7 with games likely to be played across Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday night.

How many games will be live on TV?

Based on last season’s first round, which was the first year of a new TV contract, eight matches will be available live on TV.

Which channel will they be on?

TNT Sports will show all eight live, but it’s likely the BBC will also show two of them. The BBC have an agreement with TNT to show a number of games free-to-air. Although the BBC use TNT’s match coverage pictures they have their own separate presenters, reporters, commentators and build-up and after-match coverage.

What are the likely time slots for the TV games?

Last year’s TV games were at Friday 7.30pm, Saturday 12noon and 5.30pm, Sunday 12noon, 2.15pm, 3pm and 5.15pm and Monday 7.30pm. There are likely to be similar TV slots again this season, but they won’t necessarily be the exact same kick-off times.

When will the TV games be confirmed?

Based on previous seasons, it’s likely the first round schedule will be confirmed by the end of the week (Friday, October 23). Keep an eye on FOOTIE ON TV‘s social media channels to see them when they are announced.

How much does each club get for being on TV?

Last season each club featured in a live TV game received a £50,000 broadcast fee.

WOMEN’S SUPER LEAGUE ON TV IN SEPTEMBER

THE Women’s Super League returns in September and has now expanded from 12 to 14 teams.

Sky Sports will again show the majority of the games (163 in total) although a selection of games will also be free-to-air on BBC One, Two and BBC iPlayer. Some games will also stream free on YouTube.

The controversial practice of multiple matches kicking off on Sundays at 12noon has been dropped after being unpopular with fans and leading to poor TV viewing figures. Matches will this season be spread over several time slots.

Sky’s live games will generally be shown on Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 12.45pm, Sundays at 12noon and 6pm. The BBC games will usually be in Saturday 12.30pm and Sunday 2.30pm time slots.
